The Signs of the Times Hemp Whip is an instrument of spiritual discipline for those who truly mean it: The seven heavy hemp falls with three knots each pack a punch and will produce substantial bruising when swung with a will. Due to its weight and the tightness of the knotting, this hemp discipline will enhance your penitence or supplication with lasting impact. A discipline, also known as a whip, flagrum or scourge, is an ancient instrument of penance and spiritual discipline. Here at Cords of Penance, we make our disciplines of hemp and sisal rope, by hand and with care.  Our whips are tried and tested, and found to do the job very well without much ado.

The ‘Signs of the Times’ Hemp Seven-Fall Discipline with hemp rope measuring 6mm in diameter (about 1/4″) has an average size handle and longer length falls, each with three knots.  Together they add up to a total of 23″ in length.

The 100% hemp rope we use for the falls of this discipline is a natural, biodegradable product, grown without pesticides and herbicides, processed without using chemicals. This pure, unmixed hemp rope won’t cause allergies or fray easily, and it does not contain synthetic oils. It is strong, mold- and UV-resistant, exceptionally durable and retains its knots very well.  You need neither oil, wax, nor otherwise condition your Signs of the Times Hemp Whip.
